Privacy Policy

Summary

TypeSuggest processes text on your device or via your chosen API. When you use on-device AI (Apple Intelligence), no text leaves your Mac. When you use a custom API (Groq, OpenAI, Anthropic), text is sent only to that provider according to their privacy policy.

On-Device AI

When you select "On-Device (Apple Intelligence)", all processing happens locally on your Mac. No text is sent to any server. This is the most private option.

Custom API Keys

If you use Groq, OpenAI, or Anthropic, your API key and the text you submit are sent to that provider's servers. We do not store your API keys on our servers; they are stored locally on your Mac. Please refer to each provider's privacy policy for how they handle data.

License Activation

To activate a license, TypeSuggest may communicate with Polar.sh (license provider) to validate your key. Only your license key and a device label are sent; no content you type is sent for license checks.

Data Storage

TypeSuggest stores preferences (e.g. AI provider choice, PII detection setting) and license state on your Mac. History of processed text is stored locally if you use the history feature. Nothing is synced to our servers.

Updates

TypeSuggest uses Sparkle to check for updates. Update checks contact the appcast URL; no personal data is transmitted.

Third-Party Services

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking. Optional third-party services are: Polar.sh (license), and the AI provider you choose (Groq, OpenAI, Anthropic) if you use a custom API.
