What is the I Ching?

The I Ching (易經, "Book of Changes") is one of the oldest works of divination in continuous use — a Chinese classic dating to around 1000 BCE. It maps every situation onto one of 64 hexagrams, six-line figures built from yin (broken) and yang (solid) lines. Each hexagram has a name, a judgment, an image, and guidance for any line that's changing — moving from yin to yang or vice versa. Read together, they describe the present moment and the direction it is leaning.
